I was just saying to someone today that self-contained episodes are all right, and that the old four(+)-parters were probably too long, but it'd be nice if there were a few more two-parters. And tonight's was the start of a two-parter. Nice.
There was time for a bit of social history, a love story, some musical theatre for Teh Gays, and some running down corridorssewers, all setting up some big battles next week. Very Nice. ________ Cheers, Rich.

During this weeks ep, I found myself wondering what it would be like if the Doctor regenerated into a gun-toting action hero. "Doctor Hard with a Vengeance" (although that sounds like a porn film), "Yippee-ki-yay, Martha", etc. But also lots of guns and explosions. Somewhat like Doctor Woo I suppose, even though I originally titled the thread that because of the pun aspect.
[edit - Also, it could introduce more depth to the character. His action hero body could conflict with his time lord training, whereby he would struggle to constrain himself when he has the possibility of slaughtering rooms full of aliens, and he can go all twitchy at the sight of a big over dramatic gun which can be employed for overkill purposes]
Also, B. B! B!!"!"

"Doctor Hard with a Vengeance" (although that sounds like a porn film), "Yippee-ki-yay, Martha", etc. There'd have to be someone shagging Martha, so the quote from Die Hard could be the more accurate: Yippi-ki-yay, Martha-fucker"
One little thing that springs to mind from this little episode is that with the evolved Dalek, we now have a potential Davros replacement (and I thought they did make him look remeniscent of the old feller). Someone just needs to shoot his kneecaps or something so he's confined to a wheelchair manufactured from the base of his former dalek shell.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN??!! The anser can be found here. Actually, "it" means nothing, because I've just realised the '<something>B' stamp on the daleks buttocks is there because they replaced the removed panels with a few odd bits of sheet metal, and that the sheet metal isn't actually what's underneath the outer panelling of all daleks. BOLLOCKS.
Also, I've just squashed a tiny bug that was crawling across my monitor, and it's left a much streak many times larger than the original dimensions of the bug. DOUBLE BOLLOCKS.

When I watched the ep, I thought they'd replaced the panelling with wood - it was only when I looked at the picture above that I realised it was metal. I didn't cotton on that's what you meant by the 'B' thang. |

While watching the ep, I was probably too busy focusing on the B to pay attention to whether the metal was a replacement part or not |

You're forgetting the small-arms-fire-melting force shield (unless the lack of bumps means the shield can't be generated, in which case the other daleks should probably have killed and eaten him or something) ________ Cheers, Rich.

I've just been reading on Wikipedia and apparently, though I did see all of McCoy's episodes, Davros escaped in his encounter with the daleks. So, couldn't he be around anyway (can't remember where that museum dalek came from)? |

Gah!
I missed the start of Doctor Who - but that's okay, I thought, I'll wait until it ends and then watch it via Telebluevirgin's 'catch up' service; it's usually on there each week.
But they haven't put it up yet, the munchin'fugfaces! |

I thought it was probably the best story this season, with lots of proper acting and everything.
But when did Jessica Stevenson a) get married and change her name, and b) become a proper actress instead of a sitcom regular? ________ Cheers, Rich.

Looking at IMDB, this is the first time she's been credited under her married name. So "now" seems to be the answer to both parts of my question! (although she married in 2002).
In 2007 she changed her stage name to her married name Jessica Hynes, some years after getting married. ________ Cheers, Rich.

Fucking amazing. Best ep of New Who so far. I agree. Certainly the scariest so far, too. It actually made me jump when the weeping angel statue "jumped" towards them just after they had the conversation with the DVD.. It was a good concept and had good execution, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it "best so far". But that might have just been because I missed the first couple of minutes due to a ripple in the fabric of space-time (i.e. being busy for a few minutes, then seeing that it's 19:11, then switching to the PC to find it's really 19:12)
The Confidential on after it was interesting, though, as they actually had something to say this time. Although I don't watch it usually (for the reasons I'm about to state) it seems like they usually only have 20 minutes of footage, which they then try to pad out to 45 minutes by adding lots of pop music. When really they could have just done a proper 20 minute behind-the-scenes programme and be done with it. |
