It's so you know which message they replied to. Although it might be more useful if it gave the author's name.

Why isn't your name visible in the above post?

Okay, so it's visible now. It wasn't when I wrote that...

Yes; I have noticed this. It seems that the first person to view a new thread does not see the posters name and post count. You just get "Posts:".

Go to an ancient thread that has not been viewed since the forum was updated. The first time you look, the name and post count are missing. If you refreash the page, everything appears as normal. :o

Also, quoting seems a little like that - sometimes when you try to quote a quoted message, only one level is used, so if you're third one in you have to either add the second set of quote marks, or click reload a couple of times so the system catches up.

Did that paragraph make sense?

That's 'cause the threaded stuff is now cached, so it has to build it on the old threads the first time you view them. It shouldn't happen on the new ones.

Here's a suggestion: What about a link to the current message?

This would be useful when quoting messages in another thread, i.e.:

1. Open thread you want to quote from
2. Find the message
3. Copy the link to it
4. Paste it into your reply

instead of the current:

1. Open thread
2. Find message
3. Then try and locate the same message in the threaded list so you can get a link to it
4. Copy the link
5. Paste it into the reply

One way of doing this would be to change:

Posted by xxx at yyy in reply to #zzz

to:

Message #www posted by xxx at yyy in reply to #zzz

Where the #www would be the link?
