Okay, so I've hacked Tim's script without telling him, so this might go t*ts up, but I've altered viewthread.php so that if an image exists in /member_images/ that corresponds to the author's username then it gets displayed next to their name. This means, for instance, I just have to upload an image called rich.gif and the weirdy-beardy one appears. This is much preferable to using the smileys stuff which requires much more hacking around with member files, smiley code, smiley options etc. etc. I don't think we should allow user upload because you just know that someone will upload an 800x600 screen and royally screw up all the forums, so we'll just say this is a little extra for people with 150+ posts or site helpers. Sound reasonable? |
