It's just been brought to my attention that some of the features that we were talking about for sprite animation programs are available in Composition.
Aside from being able to automate many actions with Scripts, you can use the grid overlay as many images as you want and adjust the opacity how you want and sequentially and zoom in however much you want. So there you go!
