I realise that it's kinda the opposite of what you guys are trying to do, but I've been thinking about trying to port Pandora's Box from the Acorn (for my own personal entertainment/programming knowledge) and maybe update the graphics. Only trouble is, I don't have a clue where to start! I hardly ever use my Acorn any more, and I don't have a clue how it works. Is it going to be totally impossible to get the source code? Anyone know what language it was written in? I write C++ on the PC and Mac (and probably Linux at a push) but I really don't know how to approach the problem from the Acorn end. I haven't been able to find anything on the Fourth Dimension so I presume they've gone bust...
Has anyone got any suggestions/help to offer? Pretty please? wink

Given the age of the game I'd be very surprised if it wasn't almost entirely ARM assembler. As for 4th Dimension, they're now owned by CJE Micros.

I doubt you'll get the source code because IIRC it's still a commercial product for 4D. It's also possible that 4D don't have the source code as they were only either the publishers.

I did all the graphics for Pandora and later on, Carnage... I've probably still got all the stuff I did using some ancient Arc graphics program. As for the code it was all written by Chris and Stu Fludger, but I haven't spoken to them for years. I think CJE are still trying to sell it so you may have (c) problems with emulating it. Let me know if you want to know more
