Maybe I can do both!Reversible migration is certainly possible in a migration on request tool. For the Draw format in this project it was achieved (bar some minor information such as user interface preferences). It would even be possible to reversibly migrate WMF files, if its features were integrated in to the intermediate format. Given the conclusion that such features would only serve to clutter the migration tool and should be omitted, it does mean that a choice between complexity and reversibility must be made. blah blah... |

Migration? This is IT, not geography! The proper word to use is 'conversion'. E.g.: Reversible conversion is certainly possible in a conversion on request tool. For the Draw format in this project it was achieved (bar some minor information such as user interface preferences). It would even be possible to reversibly convert WMF files, if its features were integrated in to the intermediate format. Given the conclusion that such features would only serve to clutter the conversion tool and should be omitted, it does mean that a choice between complexity and reversibility must be made. And I don't think 'reversibly' is a real word - use reverse instead. Bah! F-  |
